Professor Johnson's forthcoming book is titled Robert Neyland: The West Point Engineer Who Built Tennessee Football and will be published by Bloomsbury Publishing in 2026. The book's release is timed to coincide with the 100th anniversary of Neyland's first year as head football coach at the University of Tennessee. It is the first biography in decades of the iconic UT coach who became the most consistently dominant football mastermind of the first half of the 20th century. The book reveals Neyland's amazing story which goes beyond the gridiron. He was also a West Point graduate and a veteran of both world wars who rose to the rank of brigadier general.

This book provides deep insight and first-hand accounts of Neyland's life and incredible career as he balanced two professions and excelled at both. Neyland's captivating story will fascinate not only UT football fans but sports and military historians as well. The book features a Foreword written by the General's grandson, Blake Neyland.
